How we select our providers

Before appearing on Swigo, every home provider goes through a manual review. These are the documents we require before a profile is published.

Checked before going live

  • Identity document

Passport, identity card or residence permit, valid and in the applicant’s own name.

  • Right to work in Switzerland

The work permit is checked whenever nationality alone is not enough.

  • Liability insurance

A certificate of liability insurance is required at sign-up: it is what covers damage caused on site.

  • Self-employed status (AVS)

A certificate from the compensation office, when the provider works for themselves.

Safety and transparency

Home services in Geneva: how Swigo works

Finding a cleaner you can trust, someone to assemble a piece of furniture or a gardener to keep your terrace in shape is not easy in Geneva: word-of-mouth recommendations are rare, and online listings say nothing about how reliable anyone is. Swigo answers that by checking every provider by hand, with identity document, right to work and liability insurance verified, before they appear on the platform.

The principle is simple

  1. You tell us the service you are looking for and your postcode.

  2. You compare the profiles available near you (Geneva, Carouge, Vernier, Lancy, Meyrin or elsewhere in the canton).

  3. You choose the person who suits you, and the service happens at the place and time that work for you.

The payment is held when you book and is only released once the service has been carried out.

The eight home services, grouped into four families

Whether you are looking for a cleaner in Geneva for regular upkeep or a one-off helping hand, every booking goes through the same process: selected providers, a free choice, a protected payment.

Frequently asked questions, Home

Selection, insurance, payment: the questions that come up most often.

How are home providers selected?

Every application is reviewed by hand: identity document, right to work in Switzerland, certificate of liability insurance. We do not monitor profiles continuously: we check at the door, and we reopen a file whenever something is reported to us.

Am I insured during a service?

Yes, by the provider’s insurance. A certificate of liability insurance is mandatory at sign-up: we ask for it and we check it, and without it the profile is not published. That insurance covers damage caused on site during the service. Swigo is not the insurer, but you have nothing to ask the provider for: the “Insurance verified” badge says so on every profile.

Can I choose my provider?

Yes. You compare profiles, reviews and rates, then you book the person you want. No provider is ever imposed on you.

When and how do I pay?

Payment happens online, securely. The funds are only released to the provider once the service has been carried out, so you never pay blind.
