Self-employed providers, vetted one by one.

Here is what we check before a provider’s profile appears, and what happens when something gets broken.

  • Identity and right to work in Switzerland, checked by hand
  • Liability insurance required of everyone
  • Money held until the service is complete

No automatic sign-ups: nobody joins Swigo without being reviewed by a person.

The vetting process

What a provider has to supply

Every file is handled by hand, by our team in Geneva. A step that does not pass stops everything.

  1. An application form filled in by hand

    Application and identity document

The file, and an identity document our team checks.

    • Passport, identity card or residence permit
    • Valid, and in the applicant’s own name
  2. The Pâquis lighthouse and Geneva harbour

    Right to work in Switzerland

Anyone without the right to carry out gainful work in Switzerland cannot sign up.

    • Swiss nationality, B permit or C permit
    • The permit and its validity are checked
  3. An insurance certificate handed across a table

    Liability insurance

This is what covers damage caused on site.

    • A valid certificate
    • No certificate, no published profile
  4. A provider filling in paperwork at their desk

    Self-employed status (AVS)

Providers can send us a self-employment certificate to strengthen their file.

    • A certificate from the compensation office, where one exists

Passing is not for life. One report, and we reopen the file.

The payment protects you

The money leaves your card when you book, but it only reaches the provider once the work is done.

  1. The money is held

The amount is taken when you book, then held. The provider knows they will be paid, but they have received nothing.

  2. It is released after the service

Once the work is done, the amount is paid out. For the client, the price shown is the price paid, with no service fee (a commission is taken from the provider).

  3. In a dispute, the money stays held

Report the problem before the payout: the funds stay held while the Swigo team looks into the case.

Your bank details never pass through Swigo, and your data stays yours.

Payments are processed by Stripe and TWINT, two trusted payment providers. Swigo never sees your payment details.

What if the provider breaks something?

Their insurance pays.

Damage caused during the service falls under their liability insurance. We require the certificate before publishing a provider’s profile.

How do I know they are insured?
The “Insurance verified” badge on their profile. It only appears once the certificate has been checked by our team. More questions about insurance.
Is Swigo my insurer?
No. We check the cover and we look into the dispute with you, but the compensation comes from their insurance.
